Soloist:  Valerie Whitney, French Horn

The Vancouver Youth Symphony Senior Orchestra musicians are honoured and excited to perform their winter concert, with a program of brilliant Russian and German repertoire! Opening this Sunday evening concert will be the Overture to Prince Igor, from Borodin’s only known opera, “Prince Igor”. These talented young musicians will also impress you with Tchaikovsky’s favourite and celebrated ballet suite from his ballet “Sleeping Beauty”. The real gem of the evening will be Richard Strauss Horn Concerto No. 1, featuring the exquisite horn soloist, Dr.  Valerie Whitney!  Dr. Whitney and the Senior Orchestra promise nothing short of a gorgeous program highlighting the warm and virtuosic sounds of the French horn!
