Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Michael J Fox Theatre a wheelchair accessible facility?
The Michael J Fox Theatre is a fully wheelchair accessible venue with certification from the Rick Hansen Foundation. The Theatre was designed to include specific considerations and features for those with special needs, such as the students of the BC Provincial School for the Deaf. The Theatre promotes the community ideals of accessibility and inclusion in the truest sense.
What is the ease of access to the building and are accessible parking stalls nearby?
There are paved sidewalks outside of the Theatre and ramps leading into the auditorium. Automatic sliding doors are located at the front entrance and two designated Disabled Parking Stalls are located in the parking lot, approximately 130 feet from the sliding doors. There are six additional stalls a bit further away in the same lot.
Do you have wheelchair seating?
There are six reserved seats for patrons in wheelchairs and for patrons with mobility issues. Depending on the event, Row H may be used for wheelchair seating. Contact event organizers or notify ticket organizer you will require these seats when purchasing tickets. Please see our Front of House staff for assistance on arrival.
Are accessible washrooms available?
Accessible washrooms are located on each floor of the Theatre in the south hallway. Please ask our Front of House staff for assistance, as these washrooms are locked.
Are animals permitted in the facility?
Service animals are always welcome into the facility and must remain on a leash and harness at all times. ‘Service Animal’ means an animal trained to provide assistance to a person with a disability for that disability, and includes guide dogs. Companion or therapy animals (pets or other non-service animals) that do not have specialized training to provide assistance to persons with a disability are not permitted.
Are there devices for the Hard of Hearing?
There are a limited number of Infrared Hearing Assist Headsets available. These headsets will be offered on a first come first served basis and will require a deposit of $20 cash or a piece of government issued ID (ex. BC Drivers’ License). Please ask our Front of House staff for assistance. You can return the headset to any Front of House staff after the event in exchange for your deposit.
