The screening will be followed by a panel of CODAs and experts, moderated by ASL specialist and interpreter, Nigel Howard. This event will be held at the Michael J Fox Theatre, 5455 Rumble Street, Burnaby. ASL-English interpretation will be present throughout the entire event.\n\n\n\nThis event is open to all UBC and Douglas College students and faculty, select members of the community by invitation, and by extended invitation through various d/Deaf community organizations. All ages are welcome to attend, though please keep in mind that the film is rated 14A. \n\n\n\nRegistration is required for this free event as there is limited capacity in the theatre. Registration is required to access the livestream, as livestream details will be emailed you prior to the event.\n\n\n\nFILM SYNOPSIS:\n\n\n\nAs a CODA (Child of Deaf Adults), Ruby is the only hearing person in her deaf family. When the family’s fishing business is threatened, Ruby finds herself torn between pursuing her passion at Berklee College of Music and her fear of abandoning her parents.
